Dog life in the city can be a challenge for owners and dogs alike when our four-legged friends don't have a lot of room to roam

If you live in an apartment in the city owning a dog can be a challenge, you should consider the challenges before purchasing a dog. A dog will demand a lot of time and attention, first there is the training which is time consuming within itself and they will need potty breaks, daily walks and exercise. Trying to balance your pets needs as well as your own can be daunting, at the best of times.

1. You must consider the size of dog you can have, in your apartment complex and the size of your home as well, when choosing your pet.
2. Some of the advantages will be, you are never alone and your home will be guarded while you are away.  Without a fenced yard to let your dog run and play in, you will have to get out more often for their daily exercise, which will make you healthier as well.
3. Dogs as well as humans like routines, they expect to be fed and walked at the same time each day. Maintaining a daily schedule is an advantage for you as well, knowing when your pet expects to go for their walk or be feed, will make your life as a dog owner easier also. When a dog has a daily schedule, you will find after they have been exercised and fed they will be ready to relax and settle in for the night.
4. If you have a busy work schedule or you are going out for the day, it may be to your advantage to hire a dog walker.  If the dog walker takes your dog on one long walk and  two or more short walks per- day, you can fit in a longer walk in the evening, which will be of a healthy benefit to you both.
5. Children that live in the city can also benefit from owning a dog, when they have to take their pet for daily walks and play with them in the park, they will tend to be healthier and less likely to be overweight.
6. Dog parks are a great place to take your pet; they are pet friendly and a place your dog can interact with other dogs as well. You will find it enjoyable meeting new people and relaxing while your dog plays in a safe environment.
7. If you find it hard to get a dog walker you might want to invest in a dog potty. The dog potties are eco-friendly and very convenient for dog owners, which will take some stress off you, while keeping your pet on schedule. Dog owners appreciate the dog potty on those cold or rainy nights when they don’t have to take their dog outdoors. Owners find it a lot less stressful when they have to be away from home for an extended period, knowing they have a dog potty.
