From Hearts United for Animals… Goodness, do they come any cuter? The pictures are enough to make your eyes melt. Pudding is the chubster of Valma’s litter. He was born at HUA after his mother was rescued from a puppy mill in January. It was utterly amazing to watch Pud and his siblings come into this world, knowing that they would never have to endure what their mama had to for 9 horrific years. We are so very proud of Valma and her babies are, well, just LOOK AT THEM. Perfect in every way. Pudding was the pup that had a good time getting his photos done. He thought he looked particulary handsome and wanted to share his fine looks with the world. The babies won’t be ready to go home for several more weeks, but we just had to give everyone a sneak preview. They are just way too adorable not to share!
They’re calling him a “diamond in the ruff,” and rightly so. A Golden Retriever named Sollie in Rockland, Md., made headlines when he gobbled up a 3-carat diamond worth $20,000, reports ABC 7 News.
Sollie’s owner, George Kaufman, owns the Robert Bernard Jewelry Store in Rockland with his partner, Robert Rosin. As he has done every day since he was adopted a year-and-a-half ago, Sollie goes to work with George and hangs out in the jewelry store.
On this particular day, a diamond dealer came in to show some some gems to George and Robert. Sollie stood nearby. Suddenly, the dealer dropped one of the expensive rocks, and Sollie went for it.
“Saw Soli go for the diamond — gobbled it up,” Robert told ABC 7 News. “Tried to get it — couldn’t get it — gone!”
They called the vet, who told them to let nature takes its course. “We had to sweat it out for a few days,” Robert tells Pet News Examiner. “George walked him morning and night, and had through the stuff.”
Then one day, after Sollie’s 7 a.m. walk, there it was in Sollie’s waste: the shiny diamond.
“It wasn’t so funny then, but I guess it’s funny now,” Robert says. As for Sollie, he still goes to work every day to the jewelry store.
CBS reported that a 36 year-old woman Marie Aquilar was the woman allegedly filmed by a neighbor via a cellphone brutally beating her bulldog with a shovel.
The ASPCA received the complaint February 22nd and stepped in to examine the dog. The bulldog in question, Spike, is permanently maimed from the incident. Spike suffered a hip fracture and a broken leg, as well as some broken teeth, injuries to his ears and is unable to see out of his right eye.
The APSCA said that Spike will always walk with a limp and may never regain sight out of his eye.
News outlets are reporting that disgraced Philadelphia Eagle football player and convicted dogfighting kingpin Michael Vick is attending the 32nd annual Ed Block Courage Awards dinner to claim a “courage” award.
I don’t blame the players on the Eagles for rallying around the fallen idol and voting him as this season’s “courage” recipient. They are like minded young men rallying around one of their own. That would be similar to blaming the cameraman for shooting Vick’s ridiculous and ill-conceived reality show. I blame corporate oversight…or lack there of. So my question is this – where the hell is the NFL during all this insanity? Read More…
